Welcome!

In this class we will analyze different forms of literary expression prevalent throughout the German-speaking world of the 19th century. Our investigations of these fascinating and confounding texts will provide us with a wealth of insight - not only concerning how these authors constructed their fictional worlds, but also regarding similarities and/or differences of attitude that characterize the overall outlook (dare I say Weltanschauung?) of 19th century Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
